Defne Enē trained in and performed classical ballet for ten years in Los Angeles, CA, and Madison, WI, before beginning her career in flamenco in 1996. She performed with Yaelisa and Caminos Flamencos in the San Francisco Bay Area and also in the New World Flamenco Festival alongside distinguished artists such as Belen Maya, Yolanda Heredia, Alejandro Granados, Andres Marin and Juana Amaya. She has also performed as a featured soloist with various companies throughout the US west coast and as far as Hawaii and Beijing. She teaches and conducts flamenco workshops in USA and Spain. She has recently finished a tour in the United States with Carlota Santana's Flamenco Vivo, and a season at the Joyce Theater in New York under the direction of the renowned dancer and choreographer Rafaela Carrasco. She resides in Madrid where she performs and choreographs traditional flamenco, while at the same time experimenting with extending the limits of modern flamenco.
