KilncastingSUNNY WANG | Beginners to Intermediate
Session 4 : July 2 - 15
Tuition fee : US$900 Accommodation fee : US$450 Arrival : July 1 Departure : July 16 This course will focus on kilncasting (especially on lost wax casting), from open faced mold to three dimensions sculpture mold, from clay to wax, from one off work to production work. Suitable for beginners, intermediates, designers, jewellers and sculptors. Moldmaking will include clay and wax and silicon materials for producing production mold or complex molds. Different types of wax, glass and silicon will be discussed. We will also talk about the difference of making small and large high temperature plaster molds, and the finishing cold working techniques will be introduced.
Due the short time of course, and introducing many techniques at the same time, the scale of work will be limited. But you will be able to work in both small and large scale in your future practice. Course information will be presented through slide lectures, films and demonstrations. Students are encouraged to present themselves through slides, films, books or images to share with all the international classmates. The techniques will be same in the class, but the idea will be different for each student. Each student is encouraged and suggested to bring a new and original idea, a sketch, a drawing, an image, an object, or a source of book as starting point. Also be prepared to work hard, and have FUN!!!!!
