The class will be based on working intuitively and it will cover variety of techniques from simple fundaments in vessel making to extremely finessful hot sculpting. The class will be structured to develop team work in the traditional furnace working process with the finished object based on contemporary image making. The time will be divided between demonstrations, hands on making and discussions about idea development. This is an opportunity to be exposed to a wide ranging variety of information tailored to the needs of individual students in a relaxed environment.

Richard Jolley


Richard Jolley received his BFA from Vanderbilt University and continued his graduate studies at Penland School of Arts and Crafts in North Carolina. Since he graduated from college in 1975, he has had a studio in Knoxville, Tennessee. He has worked with glass for approximately thirty years and has been teaching workshops and giving lectures around the world since 1985. His essays were published by leading art magazines and his work is included in museum collections in the United States and abroad. His work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions throughout the US and abroad, and can be found in many public and private collections. He currently has a traveling retrospective named Richard Jolley Sculptor of Glass.
