This two week session is for intermediate to advanced students, and will be loaded with demonstrations and information on fusing and kiln forming techniques. There will be lots of "hands-on" projects with emphasis on developing new ideas and designs with techniques and methods learned in the class. We will explore irids, dichroic glass, using techniques to create depth and surface design using frits, powders, stringers, powder wafers, metals and mica powders. Fusing and designing with glass will be the main focus of this in-depth class. This course will explore the design and process of pattern bars, high fire projects, combing/manipulating glass in the kiln, working with mosaics, pot melts/crucible pours, bas relief, coldworking just to mention a few techniques you will work with. Students will focus on translating their ideas and designs into finished work.

Patty Gray


Patty Gray whose personal objective is to never stop learning, continue to experiment with glass and explore its possibilities without limiting herself to traditional methods, is an internationally recognized artist and educator from the Seattle area. The artist and her husband have been producing architectural fused/cast glasswork for installation in major hotels, public buildings and private residences for over 18 years. They built their first glass blowing studio in 1975. Her work is widely exhibited and collected. www.pattygray.com
