Kiln Casting and The Narrative Object
In this class we will create work in kiln-formed glass, and by incorporating other elements such as text and imagery, generate objects that tell a visual story. The class emphasize lost wax kiln forming but also covers molten casting, coldworking, and painting. It will include discussions on the formal, historical, and conceptual criteria which are key to making art. Flavored with alchemy, this class is about combining concepts, images and process and inventing works to stimulate quality and to cultivate a personal artistic language.
