All about control
This class is aimed at intermediate to advanced students who want to master the secrets of glass control and the little crucial tips that really make the difference. We will cover basic shapes and decorations in the first week (including all the classical techniques like dot placement, stringer work, encasing, canes, floral beads) with a result oriented approach and then move on to more advanced techniques, including a new way to use colors to expand your palette, the use of precious metals and frits, the basics of off-mandrel blowing and sculptural flameworking (both on and off-mandrel) in order to make components that can be incorporated into your beads with a thinking-out-of the box approach

Anne Londez

After spending the first 10 years of my professional life as a research scientist, I decided to change courses and go full time into arts, in which I had always been heavily involved.
I have come to glass first through fusing but I quickly turned towards beadmaking and flameworking in a more general way. I have studied with American flameworkers like Jim Smircich (beads), Leah Fairbanks (beads), Loren Stump (sculptural techniques) and Shane Fero (sculptural and blowing techniques). I started teaching beadmaking in 2002 and opened my own studio in 2003 in Switzerland, where I both teach and sell my work.
In the past 3 years, I have had the opportunity to work with Lucio Bubacco, one of the masters in soft glass figurative sculpture in Murano and that experience opened new for me and enables to introduce a more sculptural aspect in my work. I am fascinated by simple fluid lines and splashes of intense colors and my work often starts with complicated shapes made by combining different techniques and then evolves by successive simplifications towards simpler more essential designs.
