Michaela Maria Möller / Intermediate to Advanced

1. Week
This course is related to students who are already fascinated by working with hot glass on a torch. They will be taught very different techniques from incasing, enamels, gold paint up to self-made murrine, decal paper and much more. Students should get an idea of different techniques to experiment with glass, realizing their own design style. I like to catch up each student on his personal level and help to go further. There is room for all kind of levels whether you have already taken a class of mine or just able to make simple beads.

This school has so many facilities to be used, so you should have an open mind to get inspired and having a great time. That means that we will do more than simple beads.
To compose your pieces to jewelry is another theme. Simple techniques to complete a necklace will be explained but not in a high quality as jewelry work should be done.

Please bring some of the beads you have already done and photos of your other work. And if you have some tools or glass color rods you can’t live without, bring them too, as well as non synthetic clothes to wear while working.

As I think it is important to talk about creativity I like each student to bring pencil paper, paint and everything you need to make little quick drawings.

2. Week
Torch-work and fusing combination
This course addresses itself to class participants who would like to combine burner techniques with fusing techniques. Individual parts manufactured at the burner will be integrated later into the fusion work. We will work with products from decorative fixtures fusing jewellery up to small bowls. Cutting glass will also be taught as well as the calculation of individual firing schedules and the additional cold working of the glass. Please bring, if possible pictures of your work. And if you have some tools you can't live without, bring them too, as well as non synthetic clothes to wear while working. As I think it is important to talk about creativity I like each student to bring pencil paper, paint and everything you need to make little quick drawings.

Michaela Maria Möller

Michaela Maria Möller is a trained glazier and studied craft design at the Akademie für Gestaltende Handwerke in Aachen, Germany. Her first contacts with making glass-beads was 12 years ago first as a hobby. Since then she has been doing more and more torch work and has taught in several countries. At present, she works in her own studio and is a member off the Glaskünstlervereinigung NRW, a German Glass Art Society, and a vise president of the BK-RLP, a German Craft Art Society.
