Hotcasting

A technique of shaping glass by gathering molten glass from the furnace and molding it into the molds created in sand or produced in different techniqes.

Hotshop	Glass furnace (approximately 1200°C)

Annealer	Sand & sand box
SANDCASTING STAGES

Shaping the models and forms	Sieving and preparing the sand

Pressing the models in sand and sieving seperator	Gathering molten glass from the furnace with the casting ladle

Casting the molten glass into the molds	Letting the glass to cool down a bit

After annealing clening and if desired polishing or sandblasting the forms	Alain Vaidie
