ALİ İSMAİL TÜREMEN
Ali Ismail Türemen who is actually a painter says that he wants to stress mass. "There are transparent and massive forms in my paintings. As I wanted to reach perfection in my paintings, during the progress I wanted to capture the third dimension. In this way, I headed towards natural material. I concentrated especially on glass. The difficulties and complications of the material attracted me very much. For an artist, trying to control a mysterious material that is fluid and full of surprises meeting with fire is a significant challenge." says Türemen.

Ali Ismail Türemen, one of the founders of the Eskişehir Anadolu University, Fine Arts Faculty, continues his work in his atelier and Istanbul Marmara University.

LALE ANDİÇ
My works symbolically represent the banners traditionally used by various Islamic denominations on occasions such as celebrations, marches, demonstrations and meetings, which are known as Alem. The dimensions and appearance of my work derive from those pole- mounted percussion instruments used by the Mehter Takımı - Janissary Band of the Ottoman court, a musical institution with a pedigree dating back to the late 13th Century. I have attempted here to give contemporary expression to an historical visual theme, taking the form and image out of their traditional - cultural roles. The works were created in 1998 and 1999, using casting, lampworking and blowing techniques.
